There was a gentle breeze that blew through the rolling woods and the trees shivered softly. The ancient faded barns that dotted the landscape creaked and settled like old men as the snow hugged their walls and slept on their tin roofs. Most animals were snug inside the warmth of their barns or burrows. A few creatures didn't mind the cold and the soft snowfall. It took a moment to register that his ship was operating without him. There was a powerful unrealness. Only he could fly his ship. She wasn't some cheap public vehicle that could be manhandled by strangers who didn't know her. The engines roared as they prepared for take off and Puck snapped out of his frozen state of shock.
“Mari!” Puck ran forward with all his might, shoving past anyone in his way. “They're taking Mari!” He screamed as he jumped up in the air, his wings buzzing violently.
